BLAC DWELLE
Blac Dwelle (b. 1993), son of Cape Verdean parents is a sculptor with a degree in Graphic Design whose practice has mainly explored painting, drawing and sculptural forms in wood.

At times figurative and abstract, his visual language reveals his taste for exploring colours and shapes, patterns and elements. Filled with a relevant but subtle symbolic charge, inspiration from references to traditional and indigenous cultures, ancient civilizations, vernacular architecture or the arts and cultures of Africa, where he has his roots.
His compositions in wood - which start from a sketch and take shape through the exercise of carpentry and an ingenious connection of diferent elements - often explore the reason of the mask as a vehicle of expression and freedom, symbolising a "concealment of true identity, the transgression and breaking of rules, a kind of exaltation of the human being and what he hides within himself", also reflecting the essence of many civilizations, "the power and division of an increasingly segregated world."
